Each of the five tokens is redeemable for one Moerlein draft beer at the Moerlein Lager House. The beer tokens feature the Moerlein Lager House logo and established date on one side. The second side features the Christian Moerlein Brewing Co. crest.

In the 1800s, the Christian Moerlein Brewing Company produced beer tokens that could be redeemed for Moerlein beer in the many saloons that populated Cincinnati's storied Over-the-Rhine neighborhood. Now, as the Moerlein Lager House prepares to open in February, Greg Hardman, CEO of the Christian Moerlein Brewing Company has commissioned the minting of a commemorative beer token. The coins were manufactured by Cincinnati's Osborne Coinage, the oldest private mint in America.
